I have no particular reason to doubt MobileX has robust network protections in place though dealer vetting might need some attention. Still, it isn’t the best publicity. And; geez, could Mr. Adderton just once find a way to not reference Boost Mobile.
Anyway, the Secret Service Agent in Charge has a perfect name in _Matt McCool_. 😄

If they were just going for a denial-of-service attack on the cell towers or 911 PSAP, I doubt the SIM cards would even need to be active. As I understand it they would likely only need to send repeated 911 calls/texts.

I’m insufficiently expert to opine on just how or what the miscreants were up to. That said, it appears they had a lot of MobileX (and, perhaps, others) SIMs. I don’t think they were acquired at the local Walmart. More likely than not, a dealer saw an opportunity.
Since Mr. Adderton brought up Boost Mobile, one of that brand’s challenges is shady dealers. It’s not something Mr. Adderton should want to see repeated with MobileX.
