While it’s never truly fun to think about death, the harsh reality is that from the moment we are born, even as we are living, we are dying. I recently lost a dear family member to a sudden, completely unexpected heart attack. Amidst the grief, the experience has served as a reminder that not only are we all moving toward death, we don’t know when our expiration date may arrive.
I’d like us to think together about the concept of death in the digital age, and to get us started, I’m organizing my thoughts into two distinct concepts:
-
Concept 1: Preparing for your departure - What can we do now to avoid creating a technological burden for those we leave behind?
-
Concept 2: Managing after a loved one’s departure - What can be done to manage a loved one’s online presence after they’ve passed away?
Your additions to these two topics or new topics are welcomed.
