Android Motorola G Power not recognizing sim

Weird. Yesterday evening I noticed that my G Power was constantly loop needing to restart. It attempts to load wifi and cellular (I see it bobbing on and off) if I watch in settings it sometimes flashes “no sim” or cannot read sim. It forces itself to restart and then It lands on the black screen and asks should it try again or do I want to reset.

I pushed the power button and start it, then quickly shut it down to safe mode. Now it works all icons fine, makes calls and I can text. Wtaf is going on. I’ve done all the voodoo tricks I can read about, and still. So now Imma just leave it in safe mode. Can I leave it in safe mode for a while? May need to finish looking into a new phone.

I did read that Google messages is messing up a good amount of people but not everybody. I have not read that it does the loop thing, just that messaging disappears, but my phone is old like in the early 2020s so it may be really mad. I read its due to the RCS video rollout and there is no smoke notification of a fix on the way yet.

Anybody hear about this. Maybe it’s what’s causing my phone problems maybe not. I only have a handful of other apps just necessity. No games or junky stuff.

Constant restart loop that fixes itself in safe mode indicates a third party app is likely causing the issue. Look at apps that were recently installed or updated as the culprit.

To see a list of recently updated apps in Google Play, open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then go to Manage apps & device > Manage. From there, you can sort the list of installed apps by “Recently updated” to see which apps have been updated most recently. You can also find recently updated apps by selecting the “Manage” tab, then “Installed”, and finally sorting by “Recently updated”.

Hi CB and thanks for the advice. I’ll take a look and see if any ring true. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday ones would be the problem? I did go and update every app that I update per some online advice in case I skipped something, but if they didn’t need updating, probably the original date updated last would remain for me to check.

Can a person uninstall any app then reboot and check, then reinstall if not the problem? (repeat with another app).

Well well well. Seems I updated lots of google stuff yesterday. I wonder if I should just step them back and uninstall updates :face_with_medical_mask:. I wonder if my phone is a bit too old for all the changes they are making as far as security goes. So I just read that for people with the latest phones, this security stuff is a problem because most websites don’t have it yet and things won’t work together.

Thanks for your help cb :slightly_smiling_face:

I have bought an unlocked new Samsung Galaxy A36.

So I thought I’d note a little of my first impressions. It was easy to swap my Boost sim and get it going. No drama. The interface is different of course and I let the navigation bar remain to see if I would find it useful after several days. I decided to keep it. I can say that I’m not really a widget fan and that’s how they have set up the home default with stacks. I like it clean. I almost never use bloat ware so I did put that shit in a stack and put it in a closet :joy: Samsung has added two apps that allow you to do some customizing to their keyboard, and I did a little, but found the offerings graphically not slick to my taste. I’ll see how that feels for a while before just getting Gboard. I’m trying not to insist on getting rid of or halting everything right away. They do want to notify you of absolutely everything you don’t care about. So I am quitting all of that . Otherwise the phone is fast. Almost too much for me (not a gamer though). Moving apps around from one place to another and in or out of stacks can be tricky because of speed. The phone is lightweight, large, and very slippery #fallrisk. The size is fine really, as my old phone was larger too. I ordered a case ASAP. I also ordered a brick - shitty that they give you a C cable but nothing to plug it into. I have it charging on my MacBook brick for now. So far seems a good choice mid range phone. They are supposedly going to keep updating the OS for 6 years and security too.
