Any Windows 11 users out there? I have a quick (work-related) question for you

I need to repro an issue that a Discourse user has mentioned, but I can’t repro it on any of my devices, and I don’t have a Windows 11 computer, which is what he’s using.

If you’re using Chrome or Firefox on a Windows 11 machine, here’s my question for you:

Question

If you place your cursor over the word Question in the above heading, does a :link: icon appear to the left? We would expect it to look like this:

I fired up my Windows 11 VM, and using Firefox I did get the link indicator.

I am running Windows 11 Home 24H2, Chrome Version 136.0.7103.114 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I do not see a link icon and my browser behaves like that text is just text, not a hyperlink.

Same here. I’m also running Chrome on Windows 11 Home 24H2

(Finally a question I can answer )

Yes @Southpaw, I see a link icon on my windows 11 pc with Firefox.

Interesting, so we have a 50/50 split. Some people see it, others don’t.

@SuperT are you also using that Home 24H2 version of Windows 11?

(And I don’t even know what to think of @mwgardiner’s VM! :see_no_evil_monkey:)

@johnny_5 and @JoshL, do you have any browser extensions going on?

I’m running Windows 11 Pro (24H2)

The split seems to be Firefox sees the link but Chrome does not?

Among our small sample, yes. But the user reporting the issue said it was true for them with both browsers.

These are my Chrome extensions. Also, I now see the link icon when I mouse over the “Question” heading.

No extensions here,. This computer is pretty new. However, I just went back to the original text and hovered my mouse over the text. I was checking if my recent Chrome update had any effect. I don’t think so but I did notice something unusual:

When I hover my cursor to the left of the word, my browser behaves like there is a hyperlink. The link goes back to this question when I click it. There isn’t anywhere else on this screen that exhibits this behavior. So, it’s like the icon has 100% transparency or it it is the same color as the background.

Windows 11 Enterprise
Chrome Version 137.0.7151.120

Yes, that symbol appears. I use Chrome.

Yep, I think this is what the user reporting the issue has described, too.
