I can’t imagine why it needs to be that hard… Users can add the feature from the app for $10, then they just need to issue the credit to cover it as promised.
I hope you’re not too inconvenienced by the lack of hotspot.

Hi @elbajo – that really does suck! We had a much different experience with a missing “free” hot spot on one of our lines. At least “free” for 6mos then discounted for 6 more. Time will tell
The first line had the hotspot enabled either before the E-mail arrived or shortly after. We never received a message about a free hotspot on the second line. Called support and they verified the second line was to get the same deal. Agent contacted supervisor for authorization. Got approval and the agent had the hotspot enabled and we tested it before we got off the line. Not trying to rub salt in the wound, just sharing our experience
Yes, I hate the telephone wait when calling, but seem to have better luck getting things solved that way. FWIW - recent wait times have been pretty short (< 5min).
Good luck! Hope they get the problem resolved soon.
EDIT - Just got first bill after transition that we will have to pay. It’s over $26/mo more than what we were paying before. So much for the “bill will stay the same” comment in previous messages. At least I think I saw credit for the hotspots
Interesting inconsistencies. I tested my hotspot feature some weeks ago when it was not listed on my account and it worked. I just tested it again and it still works. I rarely use hotspot capability so this is more of a curiosity issue than anything.
What a wonderful way to start a Sunday morning . . . called tech support to ask questions about the current bill. The account credits are still a bit of a mystery
Agent walked me through the current bill. Confirmed that we did not get credit for the “free" hotspot on the second line. They checked with management and confirmed that both lines are to have the deal BI sent. Deal is free hot spot for 6 months then discounted to $5/mo for the next 6 months on each line. Agent issued a credit to zero out the “free" hotspot charges. The good news, the credit E-mail arrived before the end of the call. Said credit should apply before the bill is due.
Summary – we are to get a $10 credit/month on each line for a total of $20 credited on monthly bill for “free” hotspots. She made entry to have billing check and make sure that credits get applied every month (as described). Told them I certainly did not want this call to become a monthly occurrence. Agent was fun to talk with but not that much fun
Why is it I feel we may still need to make a call monthly until our test is over or we decide to move on
UPDATE - less than an hour later and the BI app shows the credit with an adjusted bill. Still slightly more than what we were paying, but it looks more like it’s taxes than anything else.
I could not get the hotspot feature to work on either of my B.I. (T-mobile) phone lines, but after reading about it here, I think I will just do without! The Carrier App created a “hotspot” APN on both phones, but it does not work. I hate the idea of enabling it in the App, then fighting for a $10 credit for the remaining 5 discounted months.
@muerte33 - that might not be a bad idea.
We are on the original AT&T SIMs from the RW 5.0 days (remember, no SIM change promised). All is working well. We use the hotspots so seldom, that if the billing becomes a monthly PITA, we just might drop the hotspots too!
Tonight I got notification of another account credit from Boost.
The one I received a couple of weeks ago was more than the $25-per-month Boost charge. I have no idea how it was calculated.
The credit I received tonight makes more sense: it’s exactly the difference between $25 and what I had been paying Republic each month.
I received another e-mail about an account credit, this one for $54.89. This does not map to anything I can figure out in terms of a difference. My account still does not show the add-ons that have been supposedly applied to my account.
I got a $28 credit the day after BI migration finished at end of September, which offset the bill for the first month. Just got another $5.01 credit added just now…
I got Cha-ching! A credit has been added to your account. …however the $ amount was not posted to show on the app. A call to support got a readout of the amount of credit in my accountand an ‘explanation’ of sorts, seems they are still blaming the migration from Republic Wireless. Got the usual it should be reflected soon™
Surprise: checked the BI app today and it properly shows the promised credit (after a Tuesday to Friday delay)
I got another credit note today, this time for $44.89.
I figure that this is probably the monthly charge for my account after the trial runs out. I may be thinking too logically for the situation, though.
Over double what I’m paying Mint.
