Boost Mobile Notice of Data Breach, anyone?

Did anyone else receive an email notifying them that one of Boost’s partners (“It wasn’t us!”) had a data breach? The email went to my spam folder, so you may want to check there to see if you were impacted. Info is also publicly posted on the Boost Mobile fraud prevention site.

It seems someone was able to access the CDRs (Call Detail Records), or at least a portion of the data. It’s interesting when you think what they could do with that info. For example, if they find frequent calls between multiple numbers, they would recognize that relationship exists and may be able to pull off a smishing scheme.

I’m a former boost mobile customer so I checked my spam folder and I received this notice as well on Nov 13.

It looks like this aligns with AT&Ts recent disclosure of call and text records being stolen. The dates Boost list in the email match what AT&T listed. Since Boost utilizes AT&Ts network they’re likely referring to the same breach.

Received this too…just days after finally unlocking my Repub phone and getting port out code. If AT&T is to blame…well it’s just another strike against my recent dealings with Boost.

I don’t have an email, but I believe I’m on T-Mobile not AT&T.

Never received an email, but just received a letter in the mail today from Boost Mobile which I assume deals with the same thing - NOTICE OF DATA BREACH from a partner’s wireless network.

I received a letter today but it specified that only my text messages and call history was taken and nothing else.

Same thing for me today.

More leverage for ny efforts to convert people to encrypted voice/text apps. You can’t steal records that don’t exist.

Google Messages is encrypted so really just just see who and when.
