When I woke up this morning, I found that my Boost SIM had rebooted. This last happened a bit under two years ago. I have no idea what changed. People who have coverage issues may want to look out for changes.
For those who wonder how I know the SIM was rebooted, I PIN-lock my SIMs, a SIM reboot causes a SIM lock screen to come up, and the line is inoperable until I unlock the SIM.
Not overly interesting, but when this happens I tend to wonder what they are up to.
Boost is shutting down its native network. Generally, Boost SIMs now default to AT&T’s network and, theoretically, fall back to T-Mobile where AT&T coverage is lacking.

While I can’t be certain if I’m right about this, not knowing all the programming details of Boost SIMs, this would explain the reboot. My Boost SIM was originally AT&T-only, as far as I know. Rewriting the roaming table to allow connecting to T-Mobile cells is the sort of change that would require rebooting the SIM.
Thanks for the information. I’ll watch for coverage in those few places I don’t usually get Boost service.
