Mobi troubles?

This morning, I moved my former Mobi line from Tello to MobileX. I decided to purchase a year of service up front - unlimited talk & text plus 1 GB of cell data monthly - for $70 plus taxes and telecom fees. I still prefer month to month payment but the price was attractive to me. Regarding annual payment, it’s been said one should never gamble more than one can afford to lose and I can afford to lose $70 if it comes to that, which I’m not expecting.

There was a minor hiccup moving the number from Tello to MobileX. Because; my Pixel is eSIM capable, MobileX’s app presumed I wanted to use eSIM when I actually preferred to use a MobileX physical SIM purchased at Walmart. MobileX has no self-serve means of transferring an eSIM between phones, so the physical SIM gives me the flexibility of moving service to a backup phone by moving the physical SIM. Moving MobileX eSIM service between phones, currently, requires support assistance.

I contacted MobileX’s XpertCare. My phone call was answered promptly. The agent was pleasant and capably moved my line from eSIM to the physical SIM purchased at Walmart. So, I’ve now had my first meaningful support experience with MobileX and it was positive.

As a bonus, MobileX uses a plan pricing model - both 1.0 (unlimited) and 2.0 (refund) - and a color scheme reminiscent of the old RW.

I’m still keeping a line line with Tello as well.

I’m very disappointed with whatever is going on currently at Mobi but thank them for the five years of excellent service provided and sincerely hope they are able to sort themselves.

I would just like to bottom line this in case anyone is still hanging on with Mobi. Generally, I’m the guy who advises against panic. Well; if you haven’t yet panicked and, particularly, if you relied on my endorsement of Mobi, please panic.

It’s time to get your number(s) out now! If you know your Mobi account number and the security PIN set up when you established your Mobi account use those. If you don’t know one or both of those, use the 10-digit phone number without dashes as the account number and/or the last six digits of your Mobi SIM’s ICCID as the PIN as appropriate.

If there are further questions, please do not wait to ask!

Regarding Mobi, as of Dec 8th 2025 I have successfully ported out to NumberBarn. According to NB, they have informed me of a successful port out… I was lucky to find my pin from an old e-mail.

I liked Mobi and had no issues right up until the time I had no service, no heads up or anything, not answering e-mails or phone.
