There is a PDF available here that lists compatible phones. A phone being on this list means it will probably work with basic features and data, but at it says right in the file, they do not guarantee advanced features (HD audio, WiFi calling, Video calling, Advanced Message, 5G when the phone is capable) will operate on a phone not purchased from AT&T. As far as I know, Boost Infinite is running on AT&T.
My phone is listed as compatible and can access some of the features on T-Mobile (not 5G capable and I’ve only done video calls via apps), AT&T simply doesn’t let me do that because I didn’t buy the phone from them.
I’m one of the people that need wifi calling. After several calls, a couple of chats and finally an email to Boost, I received a phone call from them on Wednesday (Sept 6). The Boost rep confirmed that I did not have coverage in my area. He also confirmed that I would not be able to use wifi with my brand new Pixel 7a. He actually recommended that I change carriers! I thanked him for his honesty. I was seriously leaning toward Mobi, but I discovered that they recently signed a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreement with T-Mobile. So, I’m still researching and re-reading all the advice on this forum. I plan to call Mobi first and ask them about the agreement with T-Mobile.
I just ordered a sim card (free) from Mobilex. They use Verizon, which shows coverage in my area. (AT&T and T-Mobile do not). I know one neighbor who usesVerizon, but she is in a different part of the valley, so no guarantees.
If you decide to sign up with Mobi now, you’ll get Verizon network coverage. Mobi’s future T-Mobile network offering would not be relevant to you. Mobi’s CEO is on the record as stating no one with Mobi Verizon network coverage will be forced to migrate to its future T-Mobile network coverage.
A factory unlocked Google Pixel 4a (a Pixel 4a purchased from the old Republic is factory unlocked) is broadly compatible with WiFi calling across carrier networks. Frankly; I can’t think of a reason it shouldn’t work with Boost Infinite other than somehow, they simply haven’t turned WiFi calling on for your account.
I expect WiFi calling on your Pixel 4a will work with MobileX as it does with my Pixel 6a.
Have you seen my reply to you in another topic regarding account credits and refunds?
This is not the topic to discuss the difference between account credits and refunds, so, if you wish, please follow-up about that in the other topic.
Yes, thanks, that did make sense. I have been so pleased with Republic over the years, that I was trying to stay loyal, but I am thinking that is kind of moot after all the changes. I guess it may be time to try something new.
Regarding loyalty to the Republic brand; there is nothing left to which to be loyal!
Boost Infinite should be judged on its own merits or lack thereof. If Boost Infinite works for you and it suits your wants and needs in a mobile phone service provider, that’s great. If not, time to move on.
One suggestion with Mobi. Though it is possible to activate service using Mobi’s app, my instinct tells me you would find it easier to activate with Mobi over the phone (which Mobi will happily do).
